Samenvatting

The Stockholm trials are running from 22 August 2005 until 31 July 2006. In August, Stockholm Transport reinforced their bus traffic with, among other measures, 14 new direct bus lines (direct from outer ares into the city). As from 3 January, a congestion charge has been introduced on weekdays between 6.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m., on passages in and out of Stockholm's inner city. The goals of the trials are: traffic reduction of 10-15 per cent, increased accessibility for buses, reduced travel times, improved urban environment. The result of the trials (up until end of May) is a decrease in the number of passages with 20-25 per cent, or 90 000 to 100 000 per 24 hours. Travel times have been reduced most significantly in the inner city and the inner radials, but also on main roads far away from the congestion charge zone. The number of citizens who say that they experience big congestion problems in the inner city have decreased from around 50 per cent to just over 10 per cent. (A). Only abstract (as above) is available from the conference proceedings. For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD E212343.
