487 young French people have answered to a questionnaire dealing with all the aspects of traffic safety. Subjects are aged 11 to 21. There are 295 boys (61%) and 192 girls (39%). The 234 questions deal with 8 chapters: car, accidents, Highway Code, safety and risk, alcohol and drugs, speed, education, seat belts. In each chapter, some questions deal with knowledge, some with attitudes, some with representations and some with (self-declared) behaviours. The experimental design is a typical psycho-developmental one, that is the same questions are asked at different ages, so we could figure precisely the evolutions with age. Of course, correlations related to sex and social status will also be presented. The main objective of the study will be to know: what is known and what isn't at which age? At which ages do shifts in attitudes occur? This is done in the prospect of improving educational strategies, because we know they are not always very efficient. (A)
