Samenvatting

This paper reports tests to obtain an understanding of the process of mine detonation under a vehicle and the effects for occupants. Loads on the occupants were measured using crash test dummies, and MADYMO simulations of the full-scale tests were performed using the crash dummy model and the human body model. Vehicles were an armoured carrier, a 30-ton truck and a heavy battle tank. Results showed that deformation of the bottom plate occurred with vertical displacement of the vehicle, which produced severe loads on the interior structure and thus on the occupants. The head, spine and legs are identified as the most vulnerable body parts. Further research is needed to define the relation between low-level tolerances of injury criteria and the risk of injury and its severity. For the covering abstract see ITRD E121180.
