Samenvatting

Emphasis in the program was placed on obtaining quantitative experimental data on which to base evaluations of battery operation, vehicle range, the ride, and performance of the vehicle, and its physical characteristics and operability. To aid in this study, a Renault 10, which is the basic chassis and body design on which the Mars II is built, was put through many of the same tests as the Mars II to provide comparison of their steady-state and transient ride and handling characteristics. During the course of the test program, the Mars II was driven a total of 2100 miles. Separate battery tests were performed in order to permit evaluation of vehicle range at conditions other than for which the car was tested.
