Experimental measurements of perceptual thresholds in car-following.

The perceptual threshold of drivers in following cars was studied in a series of experiments designed by the authors of the paper, after which the results are presented. Stimulating and challenging discussions of this work are presented by Mortimer and Snider, both of whom have done work in the same field. (See also B 3083 for preprint of paper).
