Samenvatting

Pervious dual- task studies, which were conducted in real traffic, demonstrated that drivers' cognitive load varied as a function of the complexity of driving surroundings (Harms 1985, 1986, 1987). It was also found that drivers' cognitive load varied inversely with driving speed. This paper reviews the pattern of results from these field studies.
