Experimenting with computer traffic control in Mexico City.

A computer traffic control system was put into operation in Mexico City in 1972. Originally conceived as a pilot project the system consists of 64 intersections covering an avenue and a small network. At present an optimization criteria based on a mixture of delay and number of stops is being used. The system is described and some of the results are presented.
