Samenvatting
An expertsystem is one of the types of information systems that are in use today. The characteristics of expertsystems are: 1. pattern matching inference programming; 2. the possibility to advice and to decide; 3. the explanation and justificationof the reasoning; 4. explicit incorporation of uncertainties and lack of knowledge; 5. the potential to add new opinions. In this paper a classification of applications is given into five categories.
