Exposure data as a weighting factor in the estimation of restraint use rates.

Results are presented of a major study, conducted during May 1985, to collect restraint use and exposure (distance travelled) data. The survey entailed the on- road interviewing of about 23 000 motorists at a stratified random sample of signalised intersections in the Melbourne metropolitan area. The results of the survey provide the most reliable estimates to date of restraint use rates and allow such rates to be adjusted for distance travelled.
