Samenvatting

The content of this report is part of the Autofore WP500 work. Its object is to discuss the possible extension of roadworthiness tests to vehicle categories different from the current ones. The European legislation regarding roadworthiness tests will be analyzed and compared with all the vehicle categories also defined in the European Directives. This will allow a clear identification of those vehicle categories which are not covered by any mandatory roadworthiness test in the European legislation. In the second part the vehicle categories already identified will be analyzed taking into account the most usual fields in roadworthiness enforcement, traffic safety and environmental issues, and also considering the number of those vehicles and their specific characteristics when possible. The main objective of this report is to offer a clear view of the vehicle categories currently covered and not covered by any mandatory roadworthiness test on the European Directives, and of the specific characteristics of those not covered in order to provide useful information for a possible future extension of the Directive’s scope.
