Samenvatting

This paper reports a study to determine the validity of a series of psychological tests of driving aptitude. The tests analyse visual skills, orientation, reaction, concentration, sensory-motor skills, adaptability, mental skills and stability, and social skills. Subjects were divided into groups with psychological ailments; neurological symptoms; and a history of alcohol abuse. The tests studied were the Determination Test, Tachistoscopic Traffic Perception Test, visual pursuit and Cognitrone (analysis of attention and concentration). The study concluded that some variables of the Determination Test, Tachistoscopic Traffic Perception Test and Cognitrone were able to differentiate between all groups and the control group.
