Samenvatting

A moped rider is someone who makes use of an ordinary (faster) moped (bromfiets) at least once a week. A ‘bromfiets’ is a motorised two-wheeler which is capable of driving at speeds faster than 25 km/h and is fitted with a yellow or orange marker plate. In other words a ‘modified’ slow moped (snorfiets) can also be considered as a faster category of moped. Compared with cars, the protection provided by a moped is limited. In the event of an accident a moped rider is therefore at relatively greater risk of serious injury or death. Due to its speed and mass a moped is less manoeuvrable than a pedestrian or cyclist.
