Samenvatting
In June 1975 the use of safety belts became mandatory for front seat passengers in the Netherlands. The percentage of use is now about 65% outside built-up areas and 50% inside built-up areas. The legal duty to use safety belts has not been sufficient till now on. A systematic literature review is made to research results as regards the backgrounds of and the explanations for the use and abuse of safety belts.
