Samenvatting

During court hearings following traffic accidents, videotaped recordings are sometimes given to give a drive-through view of the accident scene. The effects of focal length (8, 20 or 48 mm lens) on the impression of speed created by the recordings were investigated by a panel of 24 subjects. The results showed that the impression of vehicle speed gained from videotaped recordings was significantly influenced by the focal length of the lens being used. The impression of speed was reduced with longer focal lengths. (Author/publisher)
