Samenvatting
Two important steps in the prevention of skidding are (i) to make the adhesion between tyre and road as great as possible, and (ii) to ensure that when vehicles manoeuvre the available adhesion at the wheels is used to the best advantage. This paper considers some of the contributions which can be made towards meeting these requirements by the characteristics of road surfaces, tyres and vehicles.
