Samenvatting

Shock failure is an important hazard in transportation and the categories into which such failure has been divided are presented and discussed. A brief review is given of current techniques. New results are presented for the elastic-plastic response of the model and the likely deviation of more complex situations discussed. Relative this placement spectra are used in conjunction with a postulated failure line to suggest a method of predicting failure.
