6 colour regions suitable for raster scan display devices (RGB TV-monitors) were evaluated where colours were assigned to a unique colour name by a large number of observers. Trained observers experience a profile distortion in the desaturated regions of the colour table which enables them to judge desaturated colours with greater accuracy than untrained observers.
