Fatal Accident Reporting System 1988. A review of information on fatal traffic accidents in the United States in 1988.

In 1988 there were 47093 fatalities in 42 119 fatal crashes. This is a small increase from 1987 in the number of fatalities (1, 5%) and fatal crashes (1, 6%). In 1988 an estimated 49, 6% of all traffic fatalities were alcohol related, compared to 50, 9% in 1987. The reported restraint usage by passenger car occupants in fatal crashes rose from 29, 5% in 1987 to 32, 8% in 1988.
