Fatal Accident Reporting System FARS 1986 : a review of information on fatal traffic accidents in the United States in 1986.

In 1986 there were 46056 fatalities in 41062 fatal accidents.This is an increase from 1985 in the number of fatalities (5.1%) and fatal accidents (4.8%). There were an estimated 23990 alcohol- related traffic fatalities in 1986, which is a 7% increase over the number of 1985.The reported use of safety belts and child safety seats continued its rise in 1986.
