Samenvatting
Pedestrian deaths of children in New Zealand from 1976 to 1982 were analysed for preventability factors in regard to child, supervision, motorist, vehicle, road and site of accident. Death rates failed to decrease in these years for the 5- 9 year age group. The widespread belief that children at age 5 can cope with traffic is in conflict with the fact that at this age they sustain the highest death rate.
