Samenvatting

Consumer perceptions and the needs of users have in recent years gained momentum and become important elements of the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Studies have shown that women and men often have different perceptions and information requirements and that women to a larger extent than men focus on the usability of products and applications. The world of ITS has so far mainly been populated by men and the question has been raised about the female perspective on ITS. This study examined the female perspective on ITS applications through practical tests, focus groups and interviews with female experts. In addition, an extensive literature review was made. The focus has been on the female perspective and not on differences between women and men. The study confirmed that the female view is directed towards usability. Women use the utility of an ITS application as the starting point when evaluating it. The female perspective also comprehends to a large degree the overall perception of travel. (A)
