After an earlier research by the same authors the evidence of a close correlation between conflicts and accidents on junction access roads and in the neighbourhood of junction could be shown, this conflict technique is used for the interaction between the vehicle and the pedestrian. The purposes of the study are: (1) the development of a method for the observation of vehicle-pedestrian conflicts; (2) the availability of a system to classify traffic compositions in urban areas; (3) the training of personnel; and (4) the application of the tools to a sample of traffic composition and the evidence of the validity of the observed conflicts.
