Samenvatting

A new highway sign support structure, consisting of a cantilevered A-frame with pinned feet set back almost 37 ft from the pavement edge, has been tested under service conditions. Objectives were to evaluate stresses induced by dead and live loads, and to determine whether fatigue is a critical design condition. The structure's aerodynamic behaviour was also observed. Stress levels were low; the prevailing recorded winds will not induce fatigue. No evidence of aerodynamic instability was observed.
