Based on a home interview in 1974 bicycle traffic could be analysed. Cross tables were produced with the following characteristics: age group, sex of bicyclists and moped drivers, trip purpose, departure time and car availability. Accident data provided by the CBS are taken into account. Three objectives were developed: to improve safety for bicyclists in the age group 6-17 years and over 65; to maintain the level of bicycle usage by women of 18-64 years old; to improve bicycle usage by men of 18-64 years old.
