Samenvatting

The influence of flexible working hours on peak-period traffic and on modal split is indirect. Change in worktime patterns can influence the mobility pattern by means of changes in the activity pattern. An overview is given of possible forms of flexible working hours. In some cases the relationship between the form of labour and the activity pattern is not clear, especially with regard to forms of flexible working hours which do not influence the redistribution of worktime in a direct way. The influence of a number of forms of flexible working hours on traffic and transport has been investigated. Special attention is paid to the influence of staggered working hours and of the compressed working week on the selection of the transport mode.
