Samenvatting

An 8-month study of the impact of flexible hours on transportation patterns, office operations, and employee attitudes is reported. The study attempted to determine whether such hours had potential for relieving peak-hour transportation congestion if adopted on a broad scale and also to determine whether individuals on flexible hours change their travel mode and patterns. The study indicates that absenteeism and overtime rates were unchanged, that employees used the flexibility with responsibility, and reactions on "getting in touch" with people outside the organization varied.
