This report presents a research on the quality of FLEXSYT-II for simulating traffic congestion caused by merging-processes on highways. Some variables, which seemed to have an important influence on the possible difference between the FLEXSYT-II-simulation and the reality, were tested on their sensitiveness, like the segment length and the number of merge-possibilities. Long segments appeared to be more suited for simulating traffic congestion. To offer vehicles more than one merge-possibility appeared to be more realistic than to offer just one. (A)
