Samenvatting
This article describes the development of an accurate and reliable early warning system, its operational trials and subsequent improvements. The equipment consists of a point visibility meter, to measure the fog density of the centre of the instrument, and a background light meter. Results from preliminary trials in fog chambers and on the M4 motorway are described.
