The objective of this study is to present methods and results that can be used for rating the interior safety of different car models. The results presented by FOLKSAM (an insurance company) are based on real life accidents and injuries are coded according to AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scale). After dealing with the method used, including influence of the vehicles' weight and speed performance, the study presents the rating procedure and some results. Finally, the importance of accuracy of collected data is stressed and two different measurement systems are presented. The first being a photogrammetrical measurement system using specially adapted small format cameras and a special software for three dimensional measurements. The other measurement system are an in-vehicle crash pulse recorder.
