The main emphasis of this report is on the general description of the vehicle and its system rather than the engineering theory for meeting the contract specifications. The objectives, rationale, design descriptions, and test programs of the Ford ESV are summarized, and comparisons are drawn between the ESV and the Galaxie, which was used as a starting point for the experimental safety vehicle design.
