Samenvatting

In recent educational research discriminant analysis has been prominently emphasized as a technique for classifying subjects into predetermined categories. In practice a common experience is that the "best" discriminating variables do not satisfy the assumptions underlying classical discriminant analysis; for example, sex, age, and race. Discrete discriminant analysis is a technique developed to deal with such data. A FORTRAN Program is available from the authors that performs discrete discriminant analysis. It handles a maximum of 50 predictor variables and 12 outcome groups.
