Samenvatting

This paper presents a computational technique to predict frontal impact's characters from the early design of vehicle development by pamcrash. Also, it offers a comparison of all body's characters, including 30mph frontal impact, NCAP(35mph), 40% 35mile Offset test against a rigid wall. A study of various parameters that affect impact's characters was carried out and the results are discussed. The authors conclude that the body designers need not only to minimise the body's intrusion, but also to optimise the restraint systems of seat belt, air bag, steering system and so on. This paper describes the simulation technique, the correlation with vehicle testing, the relative importance of body structure's characteristics, and the technique in reducing intrusion in order to protect vehicle passengers.
