By reusing the asphalt from reconstruction of deteriorating roads and blending it with the gravel base and liquid calcium chloride, states, cities, and towns are able to rebuild their roads at a 50% savings. The implementation of a full-depth reclamation program withcalcium chloride is a workable, cost-effective solution to the deterioration of roads. Many asphaltic roadways are in advanced stages of deterioration from aging, base problems, and drainage. Some roads have been maintained with the application of a periodic seal coat oran overlay. Because overlays last only a limited time before cracking begins to show through and because of insufficient funding to completely reconstruct the roadways, full-depth reclamation with calcium chloride is helping throughout the country.
