Samenvatting
Patent, literature, and manufacturer surveys were conducted to collect data indicative of alternate passive restraint systems other than inflatables. The results of the survey provided fifty unique types of devices and concepts which could be classified into seven categories: transparent shields, nets, cushion, arms and blankets. These were examined in a preliminary analysis to select the concept/concepts having the greatest potential to equal or exceed the life-saving potential of the inflatable restraint system.
