Samenvatting

Developing human factors guidelines for advanced in-vehicle information systems requires a clear definition of the potential functions of in-vehicle systems. A comprehensive, functional description of the Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS) and Commercial Vehicle operations (CVO) is outlined here. A total of 26 ATIS/CVO functions were identified, including route guidance, trip planning, and manual aid request. Defining ATIS/CVO functionality can identify human limits, capabilities, and attitudes that can guide designers and researchers to make driving safer and more efficient. (A)
