Samenvatting

Identifying the best route based on multiple and conflicting objectives is problematic because (1) often route attributes are not discrete and/or quantitative, and (2) the weights of the drivers utility function are either unknown or are dependent on the context of the decision. In this paper, these issues are addressed using a fuzzy logic-based multiple objective route choice model. Fuzzy logic is used to model important route attributes which are either quantitative (both crisp and fuzzy) or qualitative form in a real-time vehicle routing environment. The multicriteria decision making model explicitly accounts for the context dependency of the decision. The approach is demonstrated using real data obtained from the Houston TRANSTAR ATMS. (A*)
