Samenvatting

Aggregation of indicators into indices is an important part of data processing. Traditionally, simple scoring methods have been used to calculate roadside vegetation quality indices, but such methods suffer from a number of faults. This paper presents a fuzzy expert system approach to producing a roadside vegetation quality index, and this approach is demonstrated to be superior to the more traditional methods. The vegetation quality index is applied to a section of national highway in Tasmania. (A)
