Samenvatting
The acoustic properties of the environment are important with regard to noise pollution. In order to investigate the influence of foliage on sound transmission through vegetation some model forest situations are examined in an anechoic chamber and in the field. It appeared that each plant community has its own acoustic climate as a consequence of the specific composition and the specific acoustic properties of the soil. For the application of an earth wall as a noise barrier the selection of the vegetation is very important.
