For both alarm and communication, sound is of great importance for the human being. In our society, however, unwanted side-effects of sound are increasing rapidly. In this paper are discussed: noise as a psychological problem masking of music and speech by noise induced hearing loss. The people and the government should be convinced of the importance of the problem.
