Samenvatting

In this general discussion it is emphasized that less than one per cent of the total cost of the BART system was related to planning. Data collection is needed on operating cost based on actual experience and on ridership. Careful long-term studies are needed to determine the effects of new transit systems. It is concluded that the conference developed a prospectus of research areas that can be of use in the Bay Area, as well as many other cities.
