General Estimates System GES 1991 : a review of information on police-reported traffic crashes in the United States.

This report presents estimates of selected national characteristic about the estimated 6.110.000 police-reported motor vehicle traffic crashes that occurred in the United States in 1991. Almost 11 million motor vehicles were involved in crashed, Seventy-two percent were passenger cars. Approximately 3.1 million people were injured or killed in motor vehicle crashes. Although the total number of alcohol-involved crashes did not change from last year, the number of alcohol-involved crashes resulting in severe of fatal injuries decreased 15 percent from 1990.
