A partial replication of the Phil lips analysis of the re-lation between newspaper suicide stories and mortalitycaused by suicides and accidents, using Dutch data, 1972-1980, is reported. Expected mortality rates were construc-ted: 1) by using Phillips method and 2) by regressingmortality rates on time and dummy variables for monthlyeffects. The results are inconclusive.
