A roundabout crossed or tangential to a platform reserved for trams is a solution employed in many projects, the design for which has been improved and refined over the last ten years. This is the subject dealt with in this the first guide published by Certu and the STRMTG, the French Transport ministry’s taskforce on ropeway and guided transport safety. This guide is an update of the Certu guide entitled Aménagement de Voirie pour les Transports Collectifs (Road layout for Public Transport) published in January 2000. It is based on feedback gathered over a period of more than ten years and was produced by a workgroup made up of project owners and tram network operators. The guide is intended to help designers, project owners, control departments and organisations, together with various local authority technical departments involved in designing and planning this type of structure.
