Samenvatting

A number of studies relating sensitivity to glare with age were made. It was found that as age increases the ability to cope with glare is lessened. The shift, however, shows a marked change in sensitivity above the age of 40. These findings support the assumption that in the normal process of aging, the pace of change is accelerated above age 40. Moreover, these studies produced a quantitative measure of glare sensitivity, and an instrument was developed providing a flare source of 2-degree angular subtense at the center of a circular test field to study the effects of scotomatic glare.
