Samenvatting

The paper is intended to develop aims and guidelines for the development of driver training and education, resulting from the GADGET EU-funded research project. A four-level descriptive model is presented conceptualising driver behaviour as a hierarchy in which driver goals and motives play an essential role. Conclusions are drawn concerning motivational aspects in driver education and also the application of active learning methods.
