Graduated licensing in the United States.

Graduated licensing systems (GLSs) phase in driving privileges in an incremental fashion, protecting younger, beginning drivers by keeping them out of high-risk situations. A variety of GLSs have been adopted in most U.S. states, and crash rate reductions of 20-30% have been reported. This article discusses the successes of GLS programs to date, and suggests that strengthening laws and finding ways to increase compliance would produce further gains.
