Samenvatting
Today's transportation policies try to minimize commuter trips in number and length. It happens therefore that industrial sites are being planned almost next to housing estates. Careful consideration must be given to the acceptability of noise levels produced by heavy traffic. The Noise Abatement Act can be base for calculating the maximum intensities of this traffic, once the roads are classified according to maximum noise levels which are acceptable. The author illustrates this procedure with an example: the Lelystad New Town.
