44 Combinations of groove geometry and point treatments were installed on an abandoned roadway to evaluate their wet-night visibility. The most promising patterns were then installed on an operational highway for further evaluation. The results indicated that only a recessed reflector system was more visible than conventional beaded paint stripes from a moving vehicle. The placing of 105 recessed reflectors to identify installation and maintenance problems is detailed.
