Samenvatting

The Guide to Road Design Part 4: Intersections and Crossings General contains guidance that provides road designers and other practitioners with information that is common to the geometric design of all at-grade intersections. However, Part 4 alone does not provide all the information that is necessary to design a satisfactory intersection and should therefore be used in conjunction with other parts of the Austroads Guide to Road Design, in particular: 1. Part 4A: Unsignalised and Signalised Intersections; 2. Part 4B: Roundabouts; 3. Part 4C: Interchanges. In addition, road designers should also refer to the Austroads Guide to Traffic Management Part 6: Intersections, Interchanges and Crossings which provides guidance on the traffic management aspects of intersection design and road users requirements. Part 4 covers topics that are common to intersection design such as road design considerations, design process, choice of design vehicle, provision for public transport and property access. It also provides guidance and information on the design of pedestrian and cyclist crossing treatments. (Author/publisher)
