Samenvatting

Design process and documentation is the means by which designs are produced in an efficient manner. A fully considered and consistent approach to design activities will ensure that all factors that should influence the desired outcome are taken into account. Documentation of the steps undertaken and decisions made during design will also enable the decision-making process to be retraced should this be necessary, and is the basis for quality management. This part of the Guide to Road Design describes a systematic approach to design and the typical requirements for quality of documentation and presentation. Design is a product and the systems that are put in place should conform to the model for Quality management systems Requirements, set out in AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008. This document provides guidance on the application of that standard to road design. (Author/publisher)
